Venue: Index

Description: The “Fake” Image traces a longer history of visual deception, from staged photography and propaganda to today’s AI-generated slop (not derogatory).
Rather than positioning AI images as a radical break, this talk situates them within an ongoing tradition of manipulated, contested, and politically charged visuals. We’ll examine how images gain and lose credibility, why certain fakes resonate culturally, and what the rise of generative tools reveals about authorship, realism, and trust today. Two Seasons, Two Strangers
Venue: Metrograph
Date:
Description: Based on two manga by Yoshiharu Tsuge, who rose to underground celebrity thanks to his surrealist tales published in the pages of the bastion of Japanese avant-garde cartooning, Garo, Miyake’s bifurcated live-action feature observes (and draws parallels and contrasts from) a summertime meet-cute between Nagisa and Natsuo (Yuumi Kawai and Mansaku Takada) and a snowbound winter encounter between screenwriter Li and innkeeper Ben-zō (Shim Eun-kyung and Shinichi Tsutsumi). Winner of the Golden Leopard at last year’s Locarno Film Festival, hailed “a true masterpiece” by Shiguéhiko Hasumi, Japan’s greatest living film critic, Two Seasons, Two Strangers is at one and the same time as simple as its straightforward title suggests and immensely, exhilaratingly complex. KATHI WEEKS on Abolitionist Feminism
Venue: Woodbine
Date:
Description: Join us on Friday April 24th for a discussion with Kathi Weeks about her new book Abolitionist Archives, Feminist Futures. Doors at 6:30pm, event at 7pm. From the publisher, "Abolition Archives, Feminist Futures takes up the work of three iconic feminist thinkers - Angela Davis, Shulamith Firestone, and Donna Haraway - to ask how each author’s vision of work, the family, and the carceral state can expand contemporary feminism’s ability to structurally analyze social problems. Kathi Weeks examines the archive of this unexpected collection of Marxist feminists whose works are united by their abolitionist approaches, arguing that feminism can gain a broader constituency by taking up anti-capitalist critique and praxis. Across the book’s chapters, Weeks recontextualizes well-known feminist texts in a new and original light, bringing their insight from the past into the present and future of abolitionist politics." Kathi Weeks is Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies at Duke University and the author of The Problem with Work: Feminism, Marxism, Antiwork Politics, and Postwar Imaginaries (2011), as well as Constituting Feminist Subjects (1998).

Lucrecia Martel Presents The Headless Woman
Venue: Metrograph
Date:
Description: In Martel’s beguiling, critically lauded, structurally splintered psychological thriller, poised, posh professional Veroníca (María Onetto) becomes increasingly unhinged after being involved in what may or may not have been a hit-and-run incident in rural Argentina. Martel’s genius for developing tension through the fine observation of behavioral eccentricities, the construction of unusual aural landscapes, and radical composition of screen space—achieved here with DP Bárbara Álvarez—has never been so evident as in this, her third feature. Daring, disorienting, and entirely original, like Martel’s work in total, it shows us that cinema is still being invented. Presented, in a new 4K restoration, by Martel in person, who will also be on-hand for a post-screening Q&A.
Restoration carried out from the 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative, a first-generation internegative, and the original digital sound mix. Reference elements included a duplicate negative and a vintage 35mm release print. Restoration produced by Rei Pictures, with the support of The Museum of Modern Art and the UCLA Film & Television Archive. Additional support and organization by Strand Releasing USA. Carried out at Cubic Restoration in Buenos Aires.

Present.Perfect. preceded by Being Human
Venue: Metrograph
Date:
Description: Zhu winnowed down some 800 hours of live-streaming footage for her third feature, winner of the prestigious Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, a kaleidoscopic view of self-documenting streamers in the People’s Republic of China—among them factory workers, street artists, and one severe burn victim—and the vast, unseen virtual audiences for whom they perform their lives for payment in attention and, occasionally, cash. Avoiding both techno-utopian boosterism and Luddite pessimism, Zhu’s found-footage symphony explores the complexities and contradictions of China’s short-lived streaming boom, already curtailed by government surveillance by the time of its completion. A clip from Being Human (Christopher Kulendran Thomas, 2019, 10 mins) Present.Perfect. (Shengze Zhu, 2019, 124 mins) Introduction by artist Christopher Kulendran Thomas on Saturday, April 25th

Description: Starry-eyed idealism runs smack into a wall of practical complexities and human stubbornness in Kieślowski’s first film to receive a direct to cinema release, in which a well-liked Party factotum, Stefan (Franciszek Pieczka), returns to the provincial town where he’d lived years previous with an assignment to supervise the construction of a chemical plant and ambitions to build it as a worker’s paradise, only to have the castles he’s building in the sky besieged by disenfranchised locals who resent such high-handed incursion and the inevitable blighting of the environment. A dive into the thickets of Polish bureaucracy in the Communist era, lent an unmistakable veracity thanks to the director’s apprenticeship in documentary.

Clan of Xymox, Cold Cave program
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date:
Description: LPR Presents & Pioneer Works Presents an evening of darkwave Clan of Xymox and Cold Cave in the Pioneer Works Main Hall. From foundational gothic romanticism to sleek, modern synthscapes, this is a night shaped by artists who defined—and continue to redefine—the genre, with Buzz Kull and Rosa Anschütz opening the evening.
About the artists
Clan of Xymox is a Dutch band, formed in 1981 by Ronny Moorings in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Throughout the band's long career, Clan of Xymox has emerged as an important and influential presence in the gothic/dark wave music genre. The band’s music is often classified as darkwave, gothic rock, and synth-pop, and is known for its moody, atmospheric sound and introspective lyrics. Over the years, Clan of Xymox has experienced various lineup changes, with Ronny Moorings remaining as the only constant member. The band has continued to release albums and tour regularly, maintaining a strong fan base around the world. Ronny Moorings's lyrics often explores themes of love, loss, and introspection, and is known for the melancholic and atmospheric soundscapes. Their influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary darkwave and gothic bands.
Cold Cave has become synonymous with the modern-day resurgence of darkwave and synthpop. Since 2007, Wesley Eisold’s poetic lyrics and rich baritone combined with Amy Lee’s conceptual artistic vision has propelled Cold Cave to perform at world class museums The Getty and The Guggenheim, and tours alongside legends Depepeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cult and Ministry among others. Marked by a pitch black aesthetic, crafting melodic synths-capes with songs celebrating the contradictory beauty of the human condition, they are cerebral and savage yet sweet and seductive. Based in Los Angeles, their efforts stretch across mediums into their book publishing company and record label, Heartworm Press, and bookstore The Daily Planet, where they have released the poetry of Alan Vega (Suicide), Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle & Psychic TV) and Mark Lanegan. From their primordial noise industrial beginnings to their shimmering signature synth-pop, Cold Cave have established themselves as long-running luminaries of the underground.

Debra Granik Presents ConBody VS Everybody
Venue: Metrograph
Date:
Description: Shot over the course of eight years and making its New York theatrical premiere at Metrograph, Winter’s Bone director Granik’s limited series follows ex-con-turned-CEO Coss Marte in the day-to-day operation of the Lower East Side fitness center that he founded, ConBody, where clients can learn the sort of stripped-down, intensive workout routines one develops in the confinement of a prison cell, and where Marte provides a second chance to other formerly incarcerated people via offering them gainful employment as trainers. An extraordinary story of not only one man beating the odds, but of many, many men and women facing the struggle to find new purchase in a society they’ve fallen out of step with while “on the inside,” a struggle in which the chances of recidivism are overwhelming. The screening includes a workout opportunity during intermission led by trainers from ConBody. Introduction and Q&A with director Debra Granik and ConBody founder Coss Marte on Sunday, April 26th

Description: A landmark of the emerging African cinema at the moment of European colonial disinvestment, Mauritanian Hondo’s Soleil Ô is a gripping, intimate narrative of the diasporic experience. An unnamed African laborer (Robert Liensol) happily heads for a better life in Paris, only to discover the colonial mindset is alive, well, and suffocating. Speaking of the struggle he faced making the movie, Hondo said, “I decided to make films to bring some Black faces to the lily-white French screens, which have been ignoring us and the Black contribution to the world for years.”

Consumption Book Club: Annihilation
Venue: Index
Date: -
Description: Consumption Book Club: Annihilation is a hands-on workshop exploring regeneration, symbiosis, and transformation through food, writing, and material play. Inspired by Jeff VanderMeer’s Annihilation, the evening unfolds as a sensory and creative experience — part tasting, part paper-making, part speculative diary. You’ll move through a vegan “grazing garden,” respond through guided writing prompts, and create your own handmade paper from the very materials you consume — culminating in a collective “exquisite corpse” that links food, waste, and imagination. Come hungry & curious, and leave with a cookbook zine, your own handmade paper, and new ways of thinking about growth and change. Register at the link in bio.

Fantastic Planet preceded by The Finesse
Venue: Metrograph
Date:
Description: Human Oms on the distant planet Ygam rise up against their giant blue Draag owners/overseers, who treat their tiny charges as pets to be either dandled or punished as whim dictates, in Laloux’s surreal, anti-authoritarian animated parable, based on Stefan Wul’s 1957 novel Oms en série, a film whose immediately recognizable, at times hallucinatory images come from stop-motion cutouts born of the imaginations of artist and writer Roland Topor and character designer Josef Kábrt, reaching a ravishing pinnacle in its celebrated sex scene. Jazz pianist Alain Goraguer’s psych-out score offers the ideal accompaniment to Fantastic Planet’s otherworldly landscapes and fabulous flora and fauna, altogether adding up to an out-of-this-world audiovisual experience. Blood Meridian: Close Reading the Anti-Western
Venue: Index
Date: -
Description: Why does violence sit at the center of the American myth? In this 5-week seminar, we’ll read Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian as an anti-Western — unpacking how literature has shaped narratives of conquest, identity, and power in the United States. Through close reading, discussion, and archival materials, we’ll trace the idea of “regeneration through violence” and its lasting cultural imprint.
Part classroom, part salon, this series offers a space for deep attention, shared inquiry, and rethinking a major work of American fiction.

Oneohtrix Point Never, John Medeski
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date:
Description: Pioneer Works, in collaboration with Bang on a Can and Public Records, is excited to present two nights with Oneohtrix Point Never, to open this year’s Long Play festival. His only announced performances in the U.S. for this year, these New York shows are a rare opportunity to hear his widely celebrated album, Tranquilizer (2025). His set will be accompanied by multidisciplinary artist Freeka Tet’s singular live visual aesthetic. The evening will kick off with a performance by jazz keyboard player and composer John Medeski (of Medeski Martin & Wood).
The Brooklyn-based musician, composer, and producer is most known for his boundary-pushing soundscapes that blend art, sci-fi, avant-garde techniques, and nostalgic pop culture, often using vintage synthesizers, digital chaos, and complex sampling. His latest album, Tranquilizer, has garnered much critical acclaim—Pitchfork selected the album in "Best New Music" and describes Tranquilizer as “the most immediately pleasurable Oneohtrix Point Never album in some time.” Most recently, his score for Marty Supreme (2025) was nominated for the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Score, and shortlisted by the Academy Awards for Best Original Score.
Oneohtrix Point Never's Pioneer Works shows are included as part of Bang on a Can's Long Play festival. With a festival pass, you can get access to both the Oneohtrix Point Never and Does Spring Hide Its Joy concerts at Pioneer Works and all four days of Long Play festival, which takes place in downtown Brooklyn between April 30–May 3, 2026. Get those festival passes here. You can see the full Long Play festival lineup here.
About the artists
Daniel Lopatin aka Oneohtrix Point Never has constantly merged roles, starting with his first release, Betrayed in the Octagon, to his latest film score for Marty Supreme (2025). With 11 studio albums under his belt, including R Plus Seven, Garden of Delete, Age Of, MagicOPN, and Again, he most recently released his latest album, Tranquilizer, in 2025 to much critical acclaim.
An accomplished artist who moves effortlessly through musical genres, Daniel Lopatin is responsible for soundtracks to many films including those from his ongoing collaboration with the Safdie Brothers such as Uncut Gems (2019) and Good Time (2017), the latter for which he received the Best Soundtrack Award at Cannes Film Festival. In recent years he has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including James Blake, Charli XCX, Iggy Pop, Anohni, David Byrne and Nine Inch Nails. Notably, his relationship with The Weeknd has seen him act as the Musical Director for his 2021 Super Bowl Half-Time performance. Daniel was also an Executive Producer on The Weeknd's worldwide #1 charting albums Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow as well as a writer for the original score for the film of the same name.
Freeka Tet is a French-born, New York City-based digital artist and creative mercenary working in the realm of experimental art. His practice combines objects, prosthetics, animatronics, hacking, coding, electronics, audio & video plunderphonics, bricolage, and performance-based work. Taking inspiration from internet culture, memes, trolls, and irrational social human behaviour, Tet reinterprets the elements he comes into contact with, blurring creative expression with technical execution.
John Medeski is not easily contained to a single project or genre. He is credited with over 300 works to date, most notably as one-third of the groundbreaking trio, Medeski Martin & Wood. Equally comfortable behind a Steinway grand piano, Hammond organ, or any number of vintage keyboards, Medeski is a highly sought after improviser and band leader whose projects range from work with MacArthur Fellow John Zorn, The Word, Phil Lesh, Don Was, John Scofield, Coheed & Cambria, Susana Baca, Sean Lennon, Marc Ribot, Irma Thomas, Blind Boys of Alabama, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and many more. Classically trained, Medeski grew up in Fort Lauderdale, where, as a teenager, he played with Jaco Pastorius before heading north to attend the New England Conservatory. He released his first solo piano record, A Different Time, on Sony’s Okeh Records in 2013. His recent projects include an album with his band Mad Skillet; HUDSON, a musical collaboration with Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, and Larry Grenadier; and a forthcoming documentary on Medeski Martin & Wood.

Kali Malone's Does Spring Hide Its Joy featuring Lucy Railton & Stephen O’Malley
Venue: Pioneer Works

His only announced performances in the U.S. for this year, these New York shows are a rare opportunity to hear his widely celebrated album, Tranquilizer (2025). His set will be accompanied by multidisciplinary artist Freeka Tet’s singular live visual aesthetic.
The Brooklyn-based musician, composer, and producer is most known for his boundary-pushing soundscapes that blend art, sci-fi, avant-garde techniques, and nostalgic pop culture, often using vintage synthesizers, digital chaos, and complex sampling. His latest album, Tranquilizer, has garnered much critical acclaim—Pitchfork selected the album in 'Best New Music' and describes Tranquilizer as 'the most immediately pleasurable Oneohtrix Point Never album in some time.' Most recently, his score for Marty Supreme (2025) has been nominated for the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Score, and shortlisted for the Academy Awards shortlist for Best Original Score.

Bases Loaded 5.8.26 - 8.9.26
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date: -
Description: Bases Loaded is a solo exhibition by New York–based artist Jordan Eagles that uses baseball—a sport long mythologized as “America’s pastime”—to examine ideas of team, identity, and belonging in contemporary American culture. Since the late 1990s, Eagles has explored the aesthetic power and ethical stakes of blood as a material across installation, sculpture, photography, and painting, using it to probe embodiment, spirituality, and social norms.
A lifelong New York Mets fan, Eagles was struck by the slogan printed on T‑shirts given to blood donors at Citi Field: “The Mets are in our blood.” While his love of the team was inherited from his family, he himself is barred from participating in these blood drives by policies that discriminate against gay men. The phrase became a prompt for him: What is in our blood, and who is allowed to belong—to a team, a family, a nation?
For Bases Loaded, Eagles sourced these giveaway T‑shirts, cropped them, and splattered each with blood drawn from an HIV‑positive gay man, confronting ongoing prejudice against queer bodies and sexual practices. Grouped by color in formations that echo offensive and defensive lines on a baseball diamond, the shirts also evoke the division of the United States into “red” and “blue” camps, underscoring how seemingly neutral fandom is entangled with politics and identity.
The exhibition further considers how baseball and queer cultures share a charged language of bodies and roles. Euphemisms like “first base” and “second base” frame early sexual experience through the sport, while positions such as pitcher and catcher double as metaphors for sexual roles. Eagles’s work threads these associations into a broader narrative of identity formation, desire, and stigma, asking how metaphors shape who is marked as inside or outside the norm.
Surrounding the shirts is a series of resin works cast in the shape of home plate, embedding family ephemera and medical detritus: black nitrile gloves, baby‑blue scrubs, and face guards that recall an umpire’s gear; childhood photographs of Eagles in Mets apparel with his father; and vials of blood drawn from the artist, his father, and a friend. Large, wall‑mounted reproductions of New York Post covers extend these themes into the realm of popular media, reframing sensational headlines about Mets star Mike Piazza’s sexuality and intercity baseball rivalries as part of a broader culture of speculation, spectacle, and bias. In bringing together the intimate and the institutional, Bases Loaded exposes the blood, labor, and prejudice beneath the polished image of team sports.
Jordan Eagles (b. 1977) is an artist who has been exploring the aesthetics and ethics of blood as an artistic medium since the late 1990s. His works are held in numerous private and public collections, including the Addison Gallery of American Art, Everson Museum of Art, Peabody Essex Museum, Princeton University Art Museum, University of Michigan Museum of Art, and Wellcome Collection. Based in New York, Eagles has presented exhibitions, installations, and public programs at institutions that include the Getty (Los Angeles, CA), High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), The Andy Warhol Museum (Pittsburgh, PA), Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (Alabama), The High Line (New York, NY), and Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, CA). The artist also collaborated with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on NYC Blood Sure and—in partnership with GMHC and FCB Health—is a co-founder of Blood Equality.
Jordan Eagles: Bases Loaded is curated by Gabriel Florenz. It is supported, in part, by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and by public funds from New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in Partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Opening Reception for Jordan Eagles, Khajistan, and Duke Riley
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date: -
Description: Join Pioneer Works in a public opening celebration of Jordan Eagles: Bases Loaded, Khajistan: Office of War Information (O.W.I.), and Duke Riley: Pigeoneer Works.
Bases Loaded is an exhibition by Jordan Eagles that uses baseball, long mythologized as “America’s pastime,” to reflect on team, identity, and belonging in contemporary American culture. Since the late 1990s, Eagles has investigated the aesthetic and ethical dimensions of blood as a central artistic material. Through installation, sculpture, photography, and painting, his work examines the rhetoric of blood and the contradictions embedded in biased policies. A lifelong Mets fan, Eagles draws inspiration from a slogan found on blood donor T-shirts distributed at Citi Field: “Mets are in our blood.” While the sentiment speaks to community and devotion, it also reveals the exclusion of many in the LGBTQI+ community from blood donation due to discriminatory policies. The artist recontextualizes this phrase to question who gets to belong: to a team, a family, a nation.
Since 2021, Khajistan, the archive and publishing platform founded by filmmaker and archivist Saad Khan, has preserved and digitized censored, banned, and underrepresented media from regions spanning North Africa to South Asia. Office of War Information (O.W.I.) reimagines the mechanisms of state propaganda as an office in decay. Printers continuously reproduce U.S. military leaflets distributed across Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya between 1990 and 2022, while computer terminals invite visitors to explore a digital archive of these materials and their translations. Extending back to World War II, the exhibition draws visual and rhetorical links between contemporary and historical propaganda campaigns, revealing the enduring narratives that justify war as reluctant yet necessary. Operating as both a bureaucratic machine and public archive, O.W.I. demonstrates how design and language continue to shape public perception and policy on global conflict.
Also on view on the rofo, Duke Riley’s Pigeoneer Works is a sculptural installation and fully functioning pigeon coop that continues the artist’s exploration of urban ecology, interspecies collaboration, and the hidden histories embedded in city life. Drawing from Brooklyn’s deep-rooted pigeon-keeping traditions the work revives a practice once celebrated across the borough’s working-class neighborhoods, where pigeons served as messengers, navigators, and early agents of communication. By installing a rooftop coop at Pioneer Works, Riley rekindles this history and repositions pigeons not as urban nuisances, but as collaborators and ambassadors of the natural world.
Exhibitions at Pioneer Works are made possible, in part, by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in Partnership with the City Council, as well as the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Office of War Information (O.W.I.)
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date: -
Description: Since 2021, Khajistan, the archive and publishing platform founded by filmmaker and archivist Saad Khan, has preserved and digitized censored, banned, and underrepresented media from a geography spanning North Africa to South Asia. Khajistan reveals what modern knowledge systems leave out.
Office of War Information (O.W.I.) takes its name from the U.S. government agency founded during World War II to manage public perceptions of the war through news, films, posters, and leaflets, at home and abroad. In this installation, that machinery of messaging is reimagined as an office in decay: printers continually produce copies of American military propaganda leaflets distributed across Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya between 1990 and 2022. Computer terminals invite visitors to explore a digital archive of these leaflets and their translations. Extending back into history, the exhibition traces the enduring military actions enacted by the United States against foreign nations.
Outside this office recreation, a selection of original US war propaganda ephemera including leaflets dropped over Japan during World War II is displayed, linking contemporary conflicts to earlier campaigns of psychological warfare. Shifts in graphic style and rhetoric become visible in the installation, yet an underlying logic remains constant: wars are framed as reluctantly waged, necessary, and even humane. Operating as both a bureaucratic machine and an archive, Office of War Information (O.W.I.) shows how language and design are used to justify war in advance.

Speculative Botany: Sensing the American Chestnut
Venue: Index
Date: -
Description: Meet a species we’ve almost lost. In Speculative Botany: Sensing the American Chestnut, artist Adriana Gallo and ecological designer Michael Cafieroguide a workshop and shared meal centered on Castanea dentata — once a keystone species across the eastern U.S., now functionally extinct.
Through talk, tasting, and multisensory encounter, you’ll engage with chestnuts in different forms — smelling, touching, and eating — while considering what it means to relate to a species shaped (and erased) by human intervention. Together, we’ll explore speculative botany as a method for thinking through ecology, memory, and multispecies futures.

Description: Join us at Valentino Pier for the return of Red Hook Regatta, where remote-controlled, 3D-printed, and DIY boats take on an obstacle course along Red Hook’s picturesque waterfront. Pack a lunch, bring a blanket, and enjoy science and art activities from Brooklyn-based community programs!
This year, there will be two races: a 3D-Printed Boat Race and a General DIY Boat Race featuring unique, homemade boat designs. Participants of all skill levels are welcome to enter the race. Whether you're a budding builder or a seasoned sailor, there’s something for everyone at this one-of-a-kind event that celebrates creativity and community. The obstacle course will test each boat's ability to navigate NYC’s coastline, but this year, we’re going to also award boats with the best designs! To sign up for this year’s race, please fill out this form.
On the Second Sundays of March, April, and May, we’ll host workshops at Pioneer Works to help you create your boats for the public 3D printed or DIY boat races. Evan Abel—design engineer, educator, and our favorite sea creature—will be on-site to walk you through everything you need to know about this year's Red Hook Regatta. Limited electronic motor boat kits will also be available.
Individuals or teams can sign up to receive a boat kit after filling out a brief form. All kits are $100 and come fully stocked with all the basic parts you’ll need to build a seaworthy vessel. Ready your crew and get creative!
Have more questions about kits and participation? You can reach out to jacqueline@pioneerworks.org.
See you at the pier!

The program brings together artists working with slow, non-directive sound and durational forms that support sustained presence, collective atmosphere, and immersive listening.
Going In is a sub-label of The Bunker New York focused on long-form compositions and listening-centered environments. Rather than a traditional concert format, the event unfolds as a continuous environment, allowing audiences to move freely through the space and engage at their own pace over the course of the day.
Seating will include chairs as well as open floor space, with a limited number of early entry tickets available for those who wish to arrive ahead of general admission to settle into floor areas and get VIP balcony access. While space will be available to sit or lie down, floor access is not guaranteed and will be determined by arrival time and capacity.
The 2026 program features live sets from Abby Echiverri, Ami Dang, Chloe Alexandra Thompson, Christina Wheeler, Gamelatron, Imaginary Softwoods, Infinity Machine (Juan MacLean x Gee Dee), Kelly Moran, Kroba, Omar Ahmad x DJ Haram, Phil Yeah, and The Transcendence Orchestra (Anthony Child, Dan Bean, C. Lavender), with interludes throughout the day curated by Matt Xavier.
The event will also include a collaborative altar installation by Samantha de Maryela, honoring Red Hook artists affected by the 2025 fire at 481 Van Brunt St. The installation creates space for reflection, gathering, and healing within the broader community.
This event is designed to support a shared environment of attentive listening and presence. We ask that phone use be kept to a minimum and that conversation be reserved for outdoor areas, helping maintain a quiet, immersive space inside the hall. Guests are welcome to step into the yard at any time for conversation or connection.
Please note: This is a twelve-hour durational program. Early Access ticket holders may enter at 11:00 AM. General Admission begins at 12 PM. Guests may arrive and depart throughout the day. Re-entry is permitted with a valid wristband.
This event is standing and seated. Seating includes chairs and open floor space. Floor space is limited and not guaranteed; availability is determined by arrival time and venue capacity. Please plan accordingly for comfort over an extended period of time.
Going in is presented by Beyond Booking and Pioneer Works and supported by the NYC Office of Nightlife. The full program will be broadcast live by The Lot Radio, with live visual manipulations by ACE accompanying the stream.

Opening Reception for Ash Fure program
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date: -
Description: Join Pioneer Works for a public opening celebration of ANIMAL [the listening gym], a physical listening environment that renders the body a conduit for sound. Conceived by artist and composer Ash Fure in collaboration with architect Xavi Aguirre (stock-a-studio), the exhibition features a custom-built system of contact-driven architectural machines designed to confront listeners with the physical force of sound. Riffing off the logics of circuit workouts, these stations amp the senses, corral the focus, and activate a heightened relational field that functions entirely outside language.
Over the past decade, Fure has forged a reputation for creating visceral installation-performances that defy musical convention, premiering works at major international venues (Lincoln Center, MOCA Geffen, Berghain) while garnering significant honors (Rome Prize, Guggenheim, Creative Capital, FCA Grant-for-Artists, DAAD, Pulitzer Finalist). As her first major public installation, ANIMAL [the listening gym] marks a significant foray into the art world.
"My challenge was to translate the sensory intensity and spatial dynamism I can bring through live performance to an enter-anytime installation format," Fure notes. To do this, she turned toward other models of body-forward co-presence. “The gym and the club are two of the only cultural containers I know that invite a kind of private/public, alone/together embodied intensity. No pressure to perform the self through words; just the body and its edges, the energy and its limits, each on their own adrenaline ride."
ANIMAL [the listening gym] manifests as a cyclical, durational form that compels a kind of generative loitering: a sustained encounter with sound and time outside the performer/listener divide. Visitors navigate the installation at their own pace, physically engaging the listening gym machines to drive sound straight into their bodies. Around them unfolds an orchestrated atmosphere of spatial sound and shifting light—from seismic waves of bass to the edge of silence, from total saturation to near darkness—exercising sensory capacities at their limits.
Built to move, scale, and shift, the architecture draws on non-static construction techniques. Aguirre adds, "The gym machines are designed not as fixed objects, but as change-ready systems—structures that anticipate their own movement, disassembly, and reinvention. Each machine is both infrastructure and invitation—robust yet itinerant, durable yet open—ready to roll up and occupy new spaces without losing material value or social intensity.”
ANIMAL [the listening gym] will be paired with a series of live performances and activations that build on its themes. The exhibition is an evolution of a prior installation-performance presented and commissioned by Yale's Schwarzman Center in 2023. Conceived as modular and scalable, since then, it has taken multiple forms. As a solo performance work titled ANIMAL [for body and sound], it has toured through festivals around the world (Big Ears, Long Play, Unsound, IRCAM, CTM, MUTEK, and many others) and was also released as a studio album on Smalltown Supersound. In late 2026, it will further expand into ANIMAL [the underground], a site-specific sonic takeover of a cavernous concrete basement and emptied swimming pool in LA, presented by The Industry.
About the Artists
Ash Fure’s full-bodied sonic experiences work on the senses in startling ways. Called “purely visceral” and “staggeringly original” by The New Yorker, the artist’s live performances and total installations mobilize the elemental force of sound, the social muscle of listening and our animal capacity to sense. Winner of a 2025 Creative Capital Grant, she has also received two Lincoln Center Emerging Artists Awards, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Rome Prize in Music Composition, a DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Prize, an FCA Grant for Artists, a Fulbright Fellowship to France, a Stuttgart Composition Prize, a Darmstadt Kranichsteiner Musikpreis, and a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship from Columbia University. Fure holds a PhD in Music Composition from Harvard University, is Professor of Sonic Arts at Dartmouth College, and served as co-artistic director of The Industry LA from 2021 to 2024.
Xavi L. Aguirre is an Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Architecture, as well as the Founder and Director of the award-winning architectural design practice stock-a-studio. At MIT, he is the Director of DIS-ASSEMBLIES LAB, where his work focuses on learning from and designing for when architectures come apart. Through building (and unbuilding) projects, research, and product development, he considers our relationship to material and commodity circulations, both technically as well as culturally. Aguirre was one of the representatives for the US Pavilion at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, the recipient of the 2022 Architectural League Prize, and the 2018 Muschenheim Design Fellowship, among other awards.

Science & Society: Vaccines program
Venue: Pioneer Works
Date: -
Description: Join us for an urgent conversation on vaccines, trust, and the fractures that have made immunization one of the most contested questions in America. Vaccines have saved more lives than almost any other human invention. They’re so effective that the diseases they prevented all but disappeared from collective memory. Now, childhood immunization rates are falling. Measles, declared eliminated in 2000, is back. Federal agencies are being reshaped by officials who have questioned whether vaccines work at all. And a growing movement of influencers, parents, and politicians is challenging not just individual shots but the very idea that public health is a shared obligation. So, where did this come from, what is actually going on, and what do we do about it? How did vaccines become one of the defining political fault lines of this moment—and how can trust in public health be repaired? David Wallace-Wells, columnist and writer at The New York Times and author of The Uninhabitable Earth, hosts a conversation with Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, infectious disease physician and former director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, and Jessica Malaty Rivera, infectious disease epidemiologist and science communicator whose research focuses on trust in public health. Come early to engage with local community biology lab, Genspace, who will bring hands-on microscope stations, interactive displays, and a community question wall to invite visitors into an open conversation about vaccines and the immune system. Science & Society: Vaccines responds to Jordan Eagles's concurrent exhibition Bases Loaded, on view in the 3rd floor gallery. The exhibition asks: what is in our blood, and who is allowed to belong—to a team, a family, a nation? In the garden, stargazing with the Amateur Astronomers' Association will open and conclude the night, weather permitting. Please note that seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Description: Is wrestling a sport? Everyone asks if wrestlers are athletes or performers. They’re asking the wrong question. Instead, they should consider: What athlete isn’t a performer?
PRODUCE celebrates the minds, bodies, and creative spirit of professional wrestlers. It’s wrestling that celebrates the talent, curated for fans who know ball, and those who’d like to learn—or learn to love it.
Each edition is co-produced (booked and curated) by an active professional wrestler, who co-headlines and helps construct the undercard to introduce new talent to a broader audience. Every show features a musical act or DJ chosen with the input of that edition’s co-producer.
For this edition, PRODUCE features SUPERFIGHT, a headlining match between Jonathan Gresham and Fuminori Abe, plus appearances by Joey Janela, Effy, LaBron Kozone, Mance Warner, Steph de Lander, Man Like Dereiss, AEW Women’s Pure Champion Deonna Purrazzo, “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams, Mad Dog Connelly, and many more.
PRODUCE also spotlights both local and world-renowned talent inside and outside of the ring—including musicians, photographers, content creators, graphic designers, visual artists, and apparel makers.
PRODUCE is presented by Orange Crush, and co-produced by Jonathan Gresham.

Description: For over two decades, Baltimore-based composer Dan Deacon has built a singular musical universe—one where ecstatic synth compositions, philosophical curiosity, and radical joy collide. Expanding the visionary world of albums like Mystic Familiar (2020), Deacon’s work channels both absurdity and profundity, transforming personal reflection into sweeping sonic landscapes. At the Pioneer Works Main Hall, these kaleidoscopic songs will become participatory spectacles: a room full of strangers moving together through waves of sound, guided by Deacon’s boundless energy and belief in music’s power to connect us.

The evening opens with performances by Macula Dog and MSHR. New York duo Macula Dog channels discordant electronic art-pop into immersive performances that merge sound, performance art, and surreal spectacle. Meanwhile, the Portland-based art collective MSHR constructs living audiovisual ecosystems from handmade electronic instruments, weaving light, circuitry, and human presence into hypnotic sculptural compositions.
Together, the artists trace a spectrum of experimental electronic practice—from cybernetic installations and art-pop performance to Deacon’s radiant, communal sound.
